What happened this week:

A big thank you to the Sooke Legion members, and all of the veterans that volunteered their time this week to educate our students!  We met service dogs, enjoyed presentations, and finally held a school-wide assembly in honor of the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country.

Also new this week – our school is moving to a more environmentally friendly system, with new bins installed in the hallways, and downsizing of classroom garbage cans.  Students will be encouraged to sort their garbage into the proper bins – paper, compost, recyclables, and garbage.  Attached is a list of items that can and cannot be recycled – please help your students adjust to this change by reviewing it with them.

What’s happening next week:

Schools are closed on Monday, November 13th, in lieu of Remembrance day.  Canadiana Musical Theatre will be presenting “The Birth of CPR”, the musical, this Wednesday morning, and at 3:15pm the Grade 5 Boys’ Handball Team will be playing another game in the gym.  On Friday it’s time to dig out your craziest pair of socks yet for Poirier’s Crazy Sock Day!

Also, with Christmas fast approaching come more opportunities to reach out and help everyone.  Santa’s anonymous is taking applications for assistance until December 1st, so if you or anyone you know may be looking for some assistance this holiday season please go to www.cfaxsantas.com, or stop by Sooke CASA for a paper copy of the application.
